Google + Me and You

“The Matrix is everywhere, it’s all around us, here even in this room. You can see it out your window, or on your television. You feel it when you go to work, or go to church or pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.” – Morpheus, The Matrix

That was Morpheus talking to Neo about The Matrix but what if we substituted the word Matrix for Google? Isn’t Google all around us, you feel it when you logon to your computer at work, you can see it on Google TV and when you search the web.

Do you know anyone who still thinks Google is just a search engine? Long gone are those days. Actually, Google probably never saw themselves as just a search engine.

Did you ever try Google Buzz? It’s sort of like Twitter. Do you have Gmail for Email? Have you uploaded any pictures to Picaso or stored any documents on Google Docs? If not don’t worry about all of that because we’re here to talk about Google + (plus) which is sort of like Facebook.

Google + is setup very similar to Facebook but operates a little differently. For example there’s no Like button and instead of a wall like on Facebook you have a Stream. You can pick and choose who you want to share each post to your Stream with or just make it public for everyone to see.

One feature that is unique to Google + is Circles, which is the name of the grouping convention. You can create circles and choose who belongs in each one making it easy to share certain things with certain people.

If you’re on Google + or plan on trying it out don’t hesitate to add TechLink Online to your Circle of friends so it can be Google + me and you.
